Re: Intel 2500k speed
Well 24 FPS is pretty good IMO. I am not 100% on my FPS but most BRs take me like 20hrs on my old C2D E6300. I use a tweaked custom preset though.

Re: Intel 2500k speed
I don't downsize, but with cropping, and all, I get about 6 to 8 fps with my i5 660 (3.33 GHz), with four logical cores for 1080(BD rips) material.
The Guru of 3D site uses Handbrake in it's CPU comparisons. The review page for Handbrake on the 2500k shows 16 fps for 1080p. So it would seem that your results are good.
Also there are many factors which can either speed up the encoding, or slow it down, even with the same settings. So it's really just a average that you can hope for, or plan for.

Re: Intel 2500k speed
Hi Smithcraft,
keep in mind, that if using the High Profile, Decomb and Detelecine is automatically activated in the Picture Settings with a default Flag. Try setting these options to off. You will get a dramatic speed improvement. Using my 12 core Machine with these settings enabled, I'm getting around 15 fps. Disabeling these settings my avg. is at 64 fps. So if you don't need to stick on these settings, try to deactivate them.

Detelecine can become a bottleneck, especially when you have a large number of cores (e.g. more than 4).

Bioniccommando, I disable detelecine and decomb in my HD presets.
I wanted to try downsizing with BD sourced teevee shows, and while I am currently in the process of an encode, it looks like I'm getting an average of 15 fps.
