AMD Athlon II X4 630 on Fedora 13 x86_64, 1080p source

Post by firewing1 »

Machine Type: PC
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 630 (Propus)
CPU Speed: 2.8GHz
Number of CPUs: 4
Rip Format: MP4
RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-880GA-UD3H

I loaded the latest HandBrake Nightly (svn r3510 with initial blu-ray support) onto a box running Fedora 13 (x86_64) stock installation from Live CD. I was using a 1080p source and the "Normal" preset with the following modifications:
  • Large File Support enabled
  • Video: 23.97 FPS
  • Picture: Anamorphic loose, rounding to 16, width=1280 (height autoadjusts to 720)
Resulted in 25-30FPS

Normal preset with:
  • Large File Support enabled
  • Video: 23.97 FPS
  • Picture: Anamorphic strict (width/height not adjustable, autoadjusts to very near 1080p)
Resulted in 15-20 FPS

For reference, here is the x264 options string:
ref=2:bframes=2:subq=6:mixed-refs=0:weightb=0:8x8dct=0:trellis=0
