Slightly OT: QTSS with AppleTV?

So here's a Q for the hive mind: Can AppleTV read streams from QTSS?

I've been thinking that Quicktime Streaming Server might make a more appropriate media-on-demand server solution in a multiple-AppleTV setup than running iTunes somewhere (if for no other reason than I can manage QTSS on a headless box much more easily than managing iTunes headless). QTSS already handles MPEG-4 containers and H.264/AAC content with aplomb (dunno about chapter tracks, though).

Has anyone tried this? I've been googling but not finding anything specific.

im gona try it this weekend, Ive got QTSS setup just need to add some hint tracks and make a ref movie to see how it goes

well i created a ref movie using apple's tool and when i try to play it in quicktime as a ref movie it doesnt work. If I type the url directly it works fine so something tells me the refmovie tool doesnt like rtsp url syntax
