Apple TV + 1080p TV = black bars around picture

Post by charlien »

I encoded a few movies using the Apple TV preset and the picture looks great. However there is a black band around all four sides of the picture. Can this be removed in future encodes? But I don't want to remove the bands at a penalty of only being able to view the video at 1080p. My son has a 720p LCD and I think when he sees my ATV he may want one for his setup and stream from my itunes. I'm very much a novice and don't really understand all the settings.

In other words, learn how to use your TV set and your AppleTV. This is not a problem of the handbrake program.

Why does it only happen with video encoded with handbrake? All the content from Apple fills the entire screen.
