Loosing foreign language subtitles

Description of problem or question:
I always lose foreign audio subtitles when I convert. They are in the source file. I am using Foreign Audio Search, Forced Only and Burned In. How can I fix this?

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.3.3

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
MacOS and Windows 11

Let us see the log from one of your encodes, and we can probably tell you.

"Forced only" will ignore any subtitles that do not have a "forced" flag on them. And forced flags are VERY rare!

Foreign Audio Search will look for subtitle tracks that have 10% or fewer subtitles than other tracks in the same language, and fail if there is only one subtitle track, or none are small enough.

The log points this out, and lets us see what your source file is like and make suggestions. FAS is a great tool, but it isn't good for all sources.

You only have one track, so you have to specify it on the subtitle screen instead of using FAS. And un-checking "Forced only" will be necessary, since there are no "forced flags" in SRTs.

I do not see an option to add any track except the external SRT file I have.

That's the one you're specifying. If you show "Foreign audio search" as the first line of the subtitles, remove it and leave just the SRT.

That gave me subtitles for the entire movie when I select them. I only wanted the foreign audio titles to show up for those few parts of the movie. Unchecked Forced Only and Burned In.

Any other suggestions?

The problem is that the SRT format does not include the ability to mark certain subtitles as "use only when playing dubbed audio".

"Forced", "Foreign audio only", "text and signs only" are common ways to refer to the subtitles you want, but SRT authors do not always provide just those separately. It would be possible to edit the SRT to remove the others, though.
