Upscaling PAL DVD VOB files to 1080p/25?

I have a load of my older short films shot on Sony Camcorder that now only exist on DVD. I would like to encode them in the highest quality possible so I can upload them to YouTube/Vimeo/Instagram (MP4).
Are there any presets/settings/features in Handcrake I can use to convert the VOB files and upscale them to 1080p/25?

Nothing useful as far as upscaling goes. HandBrake does have a good, but slow, nlmeans denoise filter which may help a bit on this type of source, if used at a low setting.

Yes, I did try that already, and the result was really not too bad! The source material was shot on a Sony HDV Pro HD camera, but downscaled by the camera to SD, because my computer in 2007 couldn't handle HD footage!
I'm thinking about redoing them all in glorious HD - if the camera still works and won't wreck the tapes..!
