Output file size larger than source

Post by Emperor »

Why is output file size larger than source?

I tried to compress a .MP4 file size 9.03MB. The output was 14.6MB as .M4V File. (fast 1080p30) & (Align A/V Start).

How did the output end up larger than the source and correct the problem?

What preset should I use to ensure the output file is of the same quality as (as far as possible) to the source but smaller size?

These are video courses I am using on the web. Please advise. Thanks.

Highly compressed source + low efficiency (fast) encode settings will end up with that.

Use slower encoding settings and a lower quality target (higher RF) to see if you can achieve acceptable results.

How did the output end up larger than the source and correct the problem?

Code: Select all

 "height": "1080", "width": "1920"
[12:15:08]    + decoder: h264
[12:15:08]      + bitrate 432 kbps
That's why. Your source video is absurdly overcompressed already. No further meaningful compression is practical.
