Description of problem or question:

Trying to make a rip of a DVD (animated film; specifically the Brave Little Toaster) to MKV or MP4. I first used the ~30min default settings but got complete junk and thought maybe it needed extra processing time since it's animation. Upped the settings as far as I thought sensible but still junk. The movie plays fine just watching in VLC, Windows Media Player and PS4 so while it might be scratched or something(?) I know it's not totally borked.

I'm doing something radically wrong but can't figure out what it is. The latest file I got is 2.8GB, which itself doesn't bother me but does seem to back up the fact that I'm doing something wrong - the movie is 90min long, low quality & grainy, but still. The movie itself is not recorded at a high quality, I just want a decent representation of the DVD.

TBH I was trying to do this in VLC but VLC doesn't sync the audio correctly so I came looking to Handbrake. VLC did OK with the video; though I'd like to figure out what I'm doing wrong with Handbrake and use it for DVD rips going forward.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

Increased various video settings to their max, RF set high due to animation. Yes to detelecine, deinterlace, denoise, deblock.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.3.1

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

Windows 10 Home

HB doesn't support encrypted DVDs. Rip with something intended for ripping commercial disks, like MakeMKV.
