Viera DLNA can't see file

Post by woz37 »

Description of problem or question:
Hi all, I have a Panasonic Viera 60AS740A accessing an ASUS router as DLNA server. I have been converting an (MKV file with 2 channel audio) to (MKV 5.1 channel audio) so I can listen to the movie via the Toslink output from TV.
When I convert the file using Handbrake, the file becomes invisible to the TV (i.e. it does not appear on the file list on the TV). I have had the same issue using the Prism converter, however, If I do this process with Fonepaw then the converted file is visible and plays fine. Only problem is Fonepaw would set me back almost $50.00 AU! The only difference I can see between the two files is that on Windows Explorer the Fonepaw file shows a Data rate and Total bitrate figure wheras the Handbrake (and Prism) files do not (Handbrake file shows Total bitrate of 0kbs). I have no idea if this is related but it is the only difference I can see between the files. I have tried many combinations of settings in Handbrake including all the recommended ones but the movie file always remains invisible. The original MKV is also visible to the TV.
Has anyone any idea what causes an MKV or MP4 file to be completely invisible to the player and how I can modify the converted file so it can be seen? THANKYOU! :|

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

Version 1.2.2 (2019022300)

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

Windows 10

Could be the AC3 audio track you encoded. Maybe Try AAC.

Otherwise, if your TV can't play it, it's most likely a bug in the TV's parser.

Also try passing the existing AAC track through, rather than re-encoding it.

DLNA servers are not created equal. Find out what formats and parameters yours supports, and stick to that.
