Wrong aspect from phone download

Post by seafire123 »

I have an 11 minute video taken in vertical aspect, but the Handbrake version is always -90 degrees (bottom to left, top to right). I've tried correcting it by changing the dimensions, and using the manual arrows set to 90, 180 or 270, but nothing helps. Sorry if my technical terms are wrong. The phone camera is unfortunately quite large so it needs to be made more manageable.

Mobile devices don’t rotate with your hand’s rotation; rather, they add a marker to the file that says, “play this video at such-and-such rotation”.

HandBrake does not yet use this information, but we intend to make it automatic in the future. In the meantime, you may use HandBrake’s rotation filter to manually achieve what you’re looking for.

If you’re having issues with the rotation filter, a complete encoding log and maybe some screenshots would help.
