4th Generation Apple TV

Post by Paul Downie »

OK: I’ve just updated to Handbrake 1.0.1, from 0.10.5

So, of course, I’ve got a new set of unfamiliar presets.

Which would be the best to use, when transcoding UK standard DVDs/MKV files, to use with the device?

Apple 1080p60 full hd surround should work.

Well, if your source is HD, the SD presets will significantly degrade the video quality, due to converting the video to standard definition…

The source is an SD DVD … RATHER than the HD version I’de prefer

Then the SD presets should provide nearly-identical results. In any case, HandBrake will not upscale the video, so you can use the HD presets on an SD source, too.
