The advanced tab is disabled by default because the settings in it are not intended for people who "don't get it". And most of the people who create youtube videos on "how to do things" are in that "don't get it" class.

The "best settings" for youtube are to provide them with uncompressed video, because they are going to compress it THEIR way anyway. You're just adding an additional level of compression artifacts if you compress it before you send it.

Was your source video created using settings similar to the recommendations? If not, "fixing" the number of B frames isn't going to improve the video. Quality lost in previous compressions is already gone.
