Could handbrake make use of OpenCL 1.2?

Post by quequotion »

Does OpenCL 1.2 offer anything handbrake could make use of?:

Code: Select all

OpenCL device #1: NVIDIA Corporation GeForce GT 630
 - OpenCL version: 1.2 CUDA
 - driver version: 364.19
 - device type: GPU
 - supported: no
Rather than asking to support my particular device, I'm asking about support for devices that support OpenCL/CUDA 1.2. I'm not very familiar with the technology, except to know that it was an early spec with few features. Is there anything that could be useful to handbrake?

We don't support NVIDIA GPUs because our OpenCL code sometimes crashes on those GPUs and we don't know how to fix it :(

Is there a thread or bug report I could follow on that?

Have you brought the problem to nvidia's own forums?

Not yet. Due to lack of time and interest, OpenCL is not a priority at the moment, sorry.
