VFR + frame rate controls in 'Device' presets

Post by robin »

Hi, I'm hoping someone can make sure my understanding (after reading the manuals) of the way that the different frame rate work and affect each other is right.

I've recently taken on a quest to rip a bunch of DVDs/Blu-Ray discs and have just now noticed that the preset I've been using (AppleTV 3) has a frame rate set at 30fps with VFR enabled. Am I correct in thinking that VFR will make sure that my discs will rip at 'same as source' as long as they do not exceed 30 fps? The output files that I've watched so far seem okay so I'm not too worried about that sunk time-cost, just want to do it 'right' as I continue on if I should change my ways!

Apologies if this is something asked a lot - I did have a search but the term VFR matches way too many results because of all the logs that are posted!

Thanks in advance. :)
