Copy Protected DVD conversions

Post by Bobbbo »

I am converting my DVD collection to view on my iPod touch. I have always assumed that I need to use MacTheRipper first to remove the copy write protection software and than HandBrake to convert it to the iPod format. Do I really need to do this? Can I just put in a DVD and use HandBrake only?

1. Is what you should do

2. Is what you can do

-if you do a search on Copy Protection...or read the documentation, you will understand why I answered the way I did.

Why should I go through the process of using MacTheRipper if I do not have to??

Because HandBrake is a crap ripper. Newer copy protection completely screws it over. Rip with MTR, encode with HB. Less wear on your optical drive, too. :)

...and like the man said, please read the documentation before asking questions. Saves you time, as well as us!
