Ripping Concert DVD's and others...audio is static.

Post by HellBent34 »

I just ripped the Korn concert DVD Live from Hammerstein. Upon completion, I had video...but the audio sounds like static. This also happened with Dave Matthews Central Park Concert.

Is this a trait of a copyguard? Is my Handbrake software bad and should I download another version?

Help anyone!? B(>

OK I read and searched through the threads and I still have not found a soultion.

I don't have an iPod issue.

I do understand that there are copyguards and others. I just wanted to make sure it was not the software that was bad.

Is static audio a trait of DVD's that have a copyguard especially when you are trying to convert them to mp4 format???

Oh come on. You're telling me that when you searched for threads containing the words "static" and "audio", you didn't find:

"Video, but static audio"
http://handbrake.m0k.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=925

or

"Audio is there but sounds awful"
http://handbrake.m0k.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=572

or

"static on one DVD burn"
http://handbrake.m0k.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1651

or

"Static overlapping the audio"
http://handbrake.m0k.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1663

or

"Static audio track"
http://handbrake.m0k.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2006

?????

Every single one of those threads would have answered your question. Your DVD has PCM audio. HandBrake can not encode it. This is a known, acknowledged, publicized bug. It's listed on the Trac. I even have it in the documentation.

Sorry for ruining your day!!! Maybe next time you can be a little more sarcastic. That's ok...you probably have a "Napolean Complex" and choose to hide behind the keyboard...

p.s. were you picked last at kickball when growing up? B)>

Sorry again...I'll do better research next time.

I may be missing something??? ...but I've ripped a handful of PCM concerts (to my knowledge) successfully...

the only thing I've done that may (or may not) be different, is that I rip my DVD's with MacTheRipper onto the hard drive, first, and then encode...

May be worth a try?

good luck!
