Atv1 and fps >24

I notice that 1280x720 files @ 25 fps play fine in the 1st gen AppleTv with the default ATV preset, despite 23,97 being the max framerate that should work. Can I tweak some setting to also get 1280x720 @ 29,97 fps to work?

Nope. Though 960x720@29.97fps should work.
Using custom anamorphic, you can encode with 960x720 storage, 1280x720 display dimensions.
