Subtitle problem (only one line) on Ipad

I am using Handbrake to convert MKV's with subtitles included into m4v
files with soft subtitles using the Ipad settings.
When I do this choosing the subtitle that is embedded in the mkv I end up
with a m4v which I can watch on an Ipad and which allows to turn on and off
the subtitle. However I only see one line of the subtitle. The second
line (if present is gone or at least invisible).
When I extract the subtitle from the .mkv and use a separate .srt file with
the subtitles, the subtitle is complete meaning that I can turn it on and
off and I can see both lines. I can live with this but it requires an
extra Mkvextract session that I want to avoid.
Any ideas or anybody having experienced the same behavior?

How did you encode the original MKV file? Also, how did you put the SRT file in the MKV in the first place? I'm assuming that your MKV file had an SRT file to start with.

I've noticed this before too with some MKV files, and yes my solution was also to add in a separate srt file for the subs in the Subtitles tab in Handbrake before the encode.

This was on 0.9.5 MacGUI. I don't know if this issue still exists with the 698 nightly, because I haven't used it much... obviously since it only came out a few hours ago. :P

Yes, indeed the srt was in the mkv. It was an srt that I did put in the mkv with mkvmerge.

I will have to try. I have been using 0.9.5 Windows.
