m4v to bluray player

Post by x166532x »

Now that I have my entire library of movies in m4v format with preset adjustments for the ATV1....

I would like to access my library held on a readynas from the bedroom. I also need a new DVD/BD player.

Is there a Bluray player that can also play my m4v files?

If so, what model have you found to be the best with a decent folder menu structure?

I encode my videos in the H.264 .m4v format and use a ($80.00) Seiki BD660 Blu-ray player. The menu layout will be neat and organized if you categorize your videos in appropriately named folders for different types of content. Personally I recommend this player but since it is a cheap player I would suggest keeping the box and receipt handy for return in case it is defective.

Also, how about PS3? Will it play the old ATV1 preset m4v?

yes, but with no chapters or soft-subs. you may also wish to read up on cinavia, which the PS3 enforces.
