Back in July these settings were the recommended tweaks for getting a great conversion for the Apple TV from TV or Movie DVD's.
Start with the Apple TV preset - then go to advanced - Paste in:
ref=3:mixed-refs=1:bframes=3:me=umh:subq=7:b-adapt=2:8x8dct=1
62.25% CRF
Detelcine - on - default setting
Decomb - on - default setting
I have converted several DVD's and they look really good.
With the new snapshot - is there any reason to change these settings?
Thanks,
Sam

Re: Best Apple TV settings
Not particularly. Those settings should still be good.

Moved to the appropriate Devices forum.
Re: Best Apple TV settings
In the last two snapshots (svn2773 and svn2829), x264 defaults have changed, so while this options string will still work, you won't actually be using the same options as you would using HandBrake 0.9.3 or svn2592. For a list of new defaults, see this:
http://trac.handbrake.fr/changeset/2742
Note: Edited to clarify when the x264 defaults change took place.

Re: Best Apple TV settings
Huh? Defaults have not changed since the last snapshot except for the inclusion of mbtree in encodes that use bframes.
Re: Best Apple TV settings
Well, given the string above and the fact that the OP has been using it since July, I assumed he came from 0.9.3 (though now that I think of it, he could've been using svn2592). svn2773 (which first introduced the new x264 defaults) was only released in August.jbrjake wrote:Huh? I have now edited my post to make it clearer.
