jerky video on tv shows
i have noticed on older tv shows that i rip and then use handbrake on have a bit of jerky video. I read somewhere that this could be cause by deinterlacing video. Is this true and if it is or not, is there any way of fixing this issue. My settings are 640x480, bitrate 2200, 2 pass, deinterlace.
Older TV shows, if in the US, are almost certainly NTSC 29.97fps interlaced video. You will most likely want to rip them as 29.97fps (auto, the default, really means film, or 23.976fps) and deinterlace (which will still leave a bit of unavoidable, but consistent, jerkiness - this is a result of the conversion from 2 fields/sec to 1 frame/sec). The ideal would be devices that can play back ASP/interlaced content...but alas, none yet exist.
