Feature Request: Save Queue to file

Post by timothyp »

The ability to save your queue to a file is vital!

Handbrake tends to crash every now and then, and if you had created a queue of 50 items
(settings filenames and other settings) this can be a real pain.

If I could simply save the queue file and then restore it ... perhaps even mark completed items in the queue....

That would be great.

A search would have revealed that this has already been requested. There are however, issue with this.
At any rate, tbh queueing up 50 items is quite frankly hazardous at best.

In short, this has already been requested and noted by the devs.

For now, I strongly suggest keeping numbers of encodes down to a sane amount. So if HB crashes (copy protection is always an "iffy" thing) you don't lose too much.

this is totally no surprise.

Its a known problem with camcorder/home (read: iDvd, etc.) produced dvd's. The dvd mastering is questionable at best. I am not surprised at all.

For those that aren't faint of heart without their mouse, the command line interface on the Mac can be a bit more resilient when it comes to HandBrake crashes (which virtually never happen for me except for tiny titles that aren't actual usable content anyway). At least, you can save a queued up bunch of commands as a text file, and since each one is a separate execution of HandBrake, if one crashes the next will start anyway.

Just make sure to save your textfile queue in UNIX format (different line termination than Mac).
