menu screen

is there a way to get the menu screen and what comes directly after it?? As many may know in shrek, in the beginning of the movie it says, "play the movie yah yah"... anyways im making a video and im trying to get that clip in...any ideas???

You can mount the DVD with FairMount and then copy the .vob file from the menu to your hard disk (to decrypt it). You can convert the .vob to mp4 with iSquint or to DV with Mpeg StreamClip (if you have the mpeg2 component for QuickTime). Other options are Toast, VisualHub, FFMpegX...

On my DVD the .vob is called VTS_01_0.VOB and it's a complex .vob file with all the necessary menu elements, so it might be practical to set in and out points with Mpeg StreamClip before exporting the specific clip you need to DV. You also need to fix timecode breaks when prompted.

thanks a lot, ill try to do that, not too good sure what the .vob is but i think i can figure it out :lol:
