Chapter Markers...

Post by verbal »

I've been encoding with chapter markers and I just found that some movies have an obscene amount of chapters. I also found out that chapter markers on a ripped DVD sometimes don't match the chapters on the actual DVD. Anyone know why this happens? I'm pretty sure it's due to the ripped DVD files and not Handbrake.

For example, I ripped Grandma's Boy (Unrated) and The Departed. The Grandma's Boy movie file has 45 chapters when the DVD has 24. The Departed movie file has 38 chapters when the DVD has 37. I've found no consistency with it.

I'm thinking about not doing the chapter markers anymore. Anyone use them? Why did you make that choice?

Personally I leave them on because they are an easy way to jump from scene to scene, especially on the Apple TV which is pretty crap at searching forwards and especially backwards.
