Editing mp4 files

Post by umdterrapins »

Is there a simple program for editing these mp4 files....sinple cuts and fades. Something that will allow it to be re-exported with the same iPod ready settings? I'm loving the quality I'm getting from ripping my basketball game DVDs, but I need to get rid of those pesky commercials and Final Cut Pro won't import these files. Thanks in advance.

If you can live without fades, you could use QuickTime Pro. Make a selection for each commercial and choose 'cut'. Then export to mpeg4 with audio and video as passthrough.
You can also try with an mpeg4 setup in iMovie, see if it accepts your files without converting them (if it takes really long, it's converting which you don't want). Then export at full quality and you'll get an mpeg4 again with the same settings.
