Output as filesize?

Post by JosefR »

Description of question:

Am I missing something or is there no way to select a filesize as output? I just want to reduce a bunch of large movies down to 800mb where they should be instead of the GBs they are currently wasting. I thought this was an option, but I can't find it now.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.3.3 (2020061300)

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

10

HandBrake Activity Log ***required*** (see How-to get an activity log)

Code: Select all

How can I be expected to have a log file when I'm just asking a question?

You will need to find a file size/bitrate calculator. Google will sort you out.

That option was removed about a decade ago, because it didn't work very well. You will still find websites and youtube videos that sing its praises.

Targeting 800MB regardless of original size, you're giving up quite a bit of quality. Have you tried just limiting the output display size to 640x240, and a high RF value like 28?
