Description of problem or question:
I am trying transfer my purchased DVD to digital once the source is opened there are several titles to choose from. I am selecting the longest titles and after I encode them they are either really short of if the movie is in full length it starts somewhere in the middle when I'm playing it back. The chapters are also out of order. I don't understand why this is happening and how to fix it.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
HandBrake 1.3.3 (2020061300)

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

Windows 10

HandBrake Activity Log ***required*** (see How-to get an activity log)

Fake titles on DVD's are nothing new. It's done deliberately often to make it difficult to rip discs. Often as many as 99 or so titles and they'll simply play the same content in different orders.

Best option is to play the DVD in a real dvd player and see what title it selects, then select that in HandBrake.

We have a tutorial for that somewhere but I don't know where it went.

On forums for ripping software, such as MakeMKV, you will find a lot of topics about which title is the REAL title for a particular disk. Unfortunately, Lionsgate has a history of using different play lists for different retail outlets.

I've experienced it, believe that mostly because the rip protection.
MakeMKV is one greatest option to rip the encrypted discs, also there are some other choices like Any DVD, [Removed Dubious 3rd party products]... etc if you really need to rip contents from a protected disc

Here is what I do to determine what Title I need to actually rip. I open the DVD using VideoLAN (VLC), its free to use and is an old reliable. With VLC follow these steps to open the DVD.

1. Media >> Open Disk
2. On the pop up window. Click "DVD" and UNcheck "No Disk Menus" >> click "Play"
3. When your DVD starts playing, navigate through the regular DVD menus to make your movie play. - sometimes disks have multiple versons, directors cuts, etc. But just use the regular DVD menu to navigate to your movie so it plays.
4. Once it is playing, On the VLC menu, Click "Playback", then select "Title". When you select Title, all of the DVD titles will be displayed and it will show which Title is actually being played. This is the title that you want to rip/copy using Handbrake.
