Hello,
I have a quick question here.
When i'm on VLC reading an .mkv file, all the informations related to the Audio and Subtitles are distincly provided, meaning in VLC :
1/ Audio / Audio Track
French (international) : Dolby Digital 2.0
English : Dolby Digital 5.1
2/ Subtitle / Sub Track
French : Subtitles
English: Subtitles
Now, when i want to reencode this file wich is originally in 1920*1080 and i look in my audio and subtitles tabs in Handbrake, i don't have those informations listed, meaning i got :
1/ Audio tab
Unknown (AC3) (2.0 ch) (192 kbps)
Unknown (AC3) (5.1 ch) (640 kbps)
2/ Subtitle tab
Unknown [UTF8] - Name : French : Subtitles
Unknow [UTF-8]...Name : English : Subtitles
What i would like to know is :
1/Why in Handbrake do i have those "Unknown" labels ?
2/ When re-encoding my file is there a way to remove those Unknown and insert a proper identification (as the one displayed in VLC)
Thanks
VLC and Handbrake
Re: VLC and Handbrake
If you're encoding a 1080p MKV file ripped from a bluray, it is unlikely that it would have UTF-8-encoded subtitles, so we really need your activity logs to find out what handbrake saw. None of the normal assumptions can be made.
