Joining Multiple files with different Framerates

Hi, i have several 1080p video files that i really would like to join together, however they are shot in 3 different framerates.

I have 3 @ 1080/50p - 4 @ 1080/59.94p - 5 @ 1080/29.97p and all have a bitrate of between 8.0 and 11.0 Mb/s

I have joined files together before using other software, but those were 4k/50p and 4k/59.94p from my Sony video camera and my GoPro 7 black, which i output at 4k/50p.

1. i need to know if it is wise to join files with different framerates ?

2. if it is ok to do so, can i do this in Handbrake ?

3. if so, what is the best way to go about this, with the files that i am wanting to join together ?

4. and what negative affects should i expect by joining these files together ?

Cheers

Handbrake will drop or dupe frames to match your chosen frame rate. Not always the best result.
A nonlinear editor with temporal field processing is the way to smooth motion.

Hi, thanks for that, is it ok to go from 29.97 to say 50p and drop the 59.94 file to 50p as well, or is it best to output all files at the lowest framerate out of the group i mentioned.

What non linear editor did you have in mind, or am i not allowed to ask.

Cheers

I have just recoded a 1080/29.970 file to 1080/50p and it seems to play fine, the same as i recoded a 1080/50p to 1080/29.97 and that seems to play fine as well, although one would never drop from a high framerate to a much lower one without a good reason, and i never shoot any video at lower than 50fps, especially sports and video where there is a lot of panning going on.

I think i will just recode all of my files at 50p and hope for the best.

The best option is to output variable framerate video.
