Incorrect aspect ratio displayed for new videos

Description of problem or question:

Old video displays in the correct 16:9 ratio but the new on in 4:3 ratio is some of the players only.
Windows MP:OK
VLC: OK
XNView: appears stretched out in 4:3.
to emphasize the master video file is ok across all players.
I select one of the presets to encode the video batch and the results are the same for all.
