Description of problem or question:
Handbrake stops opening an iso file with the message "Keine Gültige Quelle oder Titel gefunden"

This happens only to a very vew *.iso files. Normally all works straight foreward. I have no idea what to do. I have set the minimum titel length as short as 1 s in the settings.

Were the DVDs decrypted when creating the ISO files?

Handbrake does not include support for encrypted media.

sorry but I can't understand your question. However, I have now found a "solution". Maybe that by explaining I can clarify what was going on:

The ISO files were some time ago created with NERO (in fact they had the ending *.nrg not *.iso, however, to my experience there is no difference in both formats. The source of these ISO files where not DVDs but self edited videos (from ols DV-foodage). The problem was that the person who edited these "films" was German and used to use all characters available on the keyboard, including the "Umlaute" öäü. Those Umlaute not only were thus used as file name but also used within the ISO file for what ever reason. By using the EMACS editor (definitively the most potent editor also available for Win10) I was able to replace all those special characters (seen as "\nnn" with n being a number from 0 to 9) with one single (so not an "ae" for "ä" but just an "a") character. After saving the changes handbrake was able to open the file and doing a good job when converting to mp4.

Yes, there can be problems with many characters that should be UTF-8 encoded being used in optical disk structures. I'm going to suggest that you try MakeMKV to rip these, and see if it can generate usable files for handbrake without going through emacs editing. MakeMKV's author does a lot of work on recognizing "less than perfect" disk authoring issues.

That's good to know. Since the only actual error appears to be "JSON pack failure" (the rest of the scan seemingly went fine), maybe there's something that an be done about it in HandBrake. Though without access to a problem source it might be hard to fix nonetheless.
