Transcoding of a frame packed 3D movie with x265 HECV

Hello everyone,

I'm currently playing around with a 3D movie, I would like to transcode with Handbrake using the x265 codec. Unfortunatelly I could not yet figure out how to do this correctly. For playback I'm using MPC-HC with the madVR plugin, that allows me to choose the kind of 3D output. The source file is frame packed and - when playing with MPC-HC with madVR and 3D support enabled - can be output as a side by side video. Of course I can output the frame packed video directly on my 3D TV, to retain the full 3D resolution. If I disable the 3D support in madVR, I only see the 2D movie. This is exaclty how I would like it to have in the transcoded file.

But after trying so many options in Handbrake, I'm not sure if this is even possible with the x265 codec used by Handbrake. I found information about the parameters stero_mode=1 and frame-packing=3 for the x264 CLI, but not for the x265. Also, these parameters do not seem to work for me, not even when using x264.

Is this, what I'm trying to do, even possible? And if, what am I missing?

Unless I ma mistaken, HandBrake cannot yet decode frame-packed 3D, nor can it output frame-packed 3D, so you'd have to find other software to do this for you.

What you try to do is not possible because there is no support for X.265 MVC 3D.

What MPC-HC does before using madVR is applying the proper LAV-Filter (x.264 MVC 3D) and therfore you can see the movie in SBS.
But there is no filter for x.265 MVC 3D.
So even if you could transcode your file to such, there is no player which could play it.......
