Fixing standard DVD encoded to 1080p

Description of problem or question:
I ripped a standard DVD to .mkv using MakeMKV. I then encoded it to a .m4v file using Handbrake and the Roku1080p/Fast1080p profiles. I've since learned that this makes no sense, as standard DVD's are only 480p. Is there a Handbrake profile I can use to simply reencode the .m4v file down to 480p, or do I need to start from scratch (i.e. rip the DVD to .mkv again) to maintain the best quality at 480p?

Operating system and version:
Windows 10

HandBrake doesn't upscale the video. So your files will be still 480p. Check in your player or mediainfo to be sure.

Nifty. You are correct. (I guess I should have checked the file properties before worrying that I'd made all of my video encodes needlessly too large.)
