mkv moov atom

Post by jaydear »

I'd like to know for sure if HB defaults to placing the moov atom at the start of all mkv files containing h.264 video even if the source file has it at the tail end :?:

There is no moov atom in a mkv file.

Aha! Thanks. In a streaming situation, and assuming the exact same h.264 and AAC video and audio content, does that fact disadvantage an mkv container compared to an mp4 container "optimised for the web"?

MKV has the related metadata up front by default, fast start (web optimized) is the MP4 equivalent.
