What is 5.1 Surround

Hi,

I am trying to figure out what 5.1 surround mixdown is as it doesn't seem to be dolby.

When I covert DTS -> AC3 mixdown 5.1 surround, the sound takes a minute to kick in and it's out of sync (I believe due to my receiver Denon AVR-x2200w). When I use Dolby surround or Dolby Pro Logic II, the sound works right away but it's 2.0 instead of 5.1.

What is 5.1 surround (as it doesn't seems to be dolby)?

Is there a 5.1 surround option from DTS as my NAS won't support DTS?
