Handbrake causes MS OneDrive window to open

Post by gquiring »

Why does Handbrake pop a window for MS's Onedrive when it's launched?

Handbrake has no association / connection to OneDrive. Something on your system other than HandBrake must be triggering it. It may be something to do with the Windows explorer integration but you'd need to research that further.

Did you recently open a file on onedrive with handbrake? If so, it might be from the connection being remembered. Windows gets "helpful" at times like that.

I don't even have OneDrive installed, I never used it.

Your system knows about it, or it wouldn't be asking you about it. At least the STUB of OneDrive is in your system, whether you think so or not.

Did you recently install an update to Windows?

Windows 10 I think by default has OneDrive built in, but I never configured it. This is the popup I get.

I remember seeing that once on Win10, before I went on a rampage against all the crapware. You can uninstall all vestiges of OneDrive; it's the only reliable way to get rid of its pop-ups.

I do not know if Microsoft reinstalls OneDrive in updates, since I disabled those because of all the OTHER things it reinstalls during updates. They are pretty darn insistent that you WANT things installed that require you to log into their cloud.
