Storage Size smaller than Source

Storage Size smaller than Source

I've used Handbrake 100 times...no problems, but today I receive a mp4 that is 1280x720, a typical size, and I open it to start working but the Storage Size is stuck at 1080 even though the Source is 1280. I've tried other Presets to no avail. Older mp4's work fine.
Any ideas as to what's wrong?

Not without the activity logs, which will tell us what handbrake saw when it opened the file.
