Best way to encode 24-bit PCM

Post by ckronengold »

Been loving Handbrake for years! Amazing piece of software that I'm incredibly grateful for.

It is my understanding that HB still doesn't passthru PCM audio, at least not 24-bit PCM.

Whats the best way / closest setting to passthru for 24-bit PCM? I read that FLAC is only lossless for 16-bit PCM. Is that still my best bet?

I don't really want to get into de/re-muxing if I don't have to.

Here's what the audio looks like (bootleg of a bruce springsteen concert)
Audio
ID : 2
ID in the original source medium : 4352 (0x1100)
Format : PCM
Codec ID : A_PCM/INT/LIT
Duration : 3 h 18 min
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 2 304 kb/s
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz
Frame rate : 30.000 FPS (1600 spf)
Bit depth : 24 bits
Stream size : 3.19 GiB (8%)
Title : Stereo
Language : German
Default : Yes
Forced : No

Thanks much!

Ah, thanks.
I wasn't seeing it in the Audio preset that I had selected.
Its there when I choose from the Matroska presets.

Thanks!
