Any Advice On VC-1 Disc?

Post by JSW »

Hi,

I picked up a Blu-Ray copy of Robot Chicken Season 6 on sale from Amazon. I ripped all 20 episodes, using DVDFab, but when I tried to run them through HandBrake, none of them would process. After doing some research, I found older posts stating that HandBrake does not work with VC-1 discs, which this one is. I assume the current version of HandBrake still doesn't work with VC-1.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a HandBrake alternative, hopefully freeware, that will convert these files to MP4? I've tried to search this forum, but it tells me VC-1 is too common and I haven't found a word combination that works.

Thanks for your help!

Logs please (see the red banner for instructions). HandBrake can decode regular VC-1 just fine, and VC-1 with interlaced compression mostly fine (but still a bit buggy).

The activity log is empty (says No log available) but here is the encode log for one of the episodes. I have an Excel program I wrote that creates a parameter queue, but I've also tried to process one manually with the same results.

I've also saw it has the "No title found" message, but I'm guessing the "Interlaced VC-1 not supported" message is the problem.

Thanks!

0.9.9 isn't supported, upgrade to the latest release (0.10.2) or the nightly.

And VC-1 and its flavors weren't supported 2 years ago, which is why it didn't work.

Just VC-1 with interlaced compression. Regular VC-1 has been supported for ages (probably as soon as 0.9.3).

I normally skip the updates, as long as everything is working, as many times they "break" my homemade batch parameter program. I was surprised to find I was two years out of date!

I upgraded to the latest version, which did break my batch queues. It looks like the xml has changed quite a bit, so I've got some work to do. However, I can manually open a source folder in the interface and it's recognizing the files from my disc, so I think everything will be good once I update my program. I'll try to be more diligent on future updates and not get so far behind.

Thank you very much for you help!

NOTE: After looking at the xml, it appears all I need to do is add the <Configuration> section at the bottom of my queue, so not such a big change.

Thanks again!
