Horizontal pan judder

Post by mustardface »

Hi.

I'm taking my first steps into ripping from blu-ray for streaming across my LAN, and after experimenting with just about every combination of settings I can think of, I'm still seeing judder on slow-panning scenes. I'm fairly convinced it's not a framerate issue - source is 23.976 and I've tried everything I can think of - framerate, variable framerate, same as source, specified, converted to a variety of different framerates - and nothing seems to make any difference. Is there anything obvious I'm missing? It's an issue across a variety of players - local to the file, or remote on the LAN.

The rules for getting support help are linked in bright red text at the top of this page.
Yes, they apply to everyone.

Like I said, I've tried multiple different combinations of settings, so including an activity log wasn't possible. Additionally, I wasn't looking for support - I was looking for any helpful and obvious suggestions as to what I might have missed. Thanks for your warm welcome.

And thanks for sharing, since you're not looking for support.
For "helpful suggestions," post your encode logs

OP already knows the forum rules.
He is attempting to circumvent the rules by feigning entitlement.
Surely he knows he's not the first one who's tried?

Gotta love these warm, welcoming forums. Would you care to explain to me exactly which log I'm meant to post when I've tried about 20 different combinations of settings? Just a helpful suggestion might have been nice - like "hey, try it with these settings and then post us the log file". There's really no need to be unnecessarily hostile.

Another day, another post, and we still don't have a single log. Wow.

Keep fighting the man!

Lacking any actual information, I have to conclude it's your LAN.
Let us know how it works out.

No, same problem local to the file, so I'll conclude it's his atmosphere causing distortions between his face and TV.

So are you saying we would actually need to see his encode logs to get at the source of the problem?
Sorry, I'm back to work in the AM, all outa time.

Mustardface, we really would love to help you out, but without knowing the specifics of what you are working with, we really don't have any thing to suggest. That is why we need the logs.

OP knows that. There is another reason he doesn't want his logs looked at.
Hmm, wonder what that could be?

I'm just trying to be less of an ass than mduell, until something is posted that is against the rules.
