Newbie question about Tags

Hi,
hope someone can help me a bit.
Ripping with HB gives m e a lot of tag when I have a look with mkvmerge. What are these for?
I have the following
Globale Tags
Tags für Spur-ID 1 = Audio
Tags für Spur-ID 2 = Subtitle
Tags für Spur-ID 3 = Subtitle
Strange thing is I always get two subtitles, even only forced subs for German is ticked. If I extract them with mkvextract the filesize of the *.sub is always 0
