I was just curious to know from a developer if support has been officially ended for XP installations.
Thanks.
Handbrake & Windows XP
Re: Handbrake & Windows XP
Well, we deprecated support with 0.9.9 and it broke sometime there after. I'm not looking into fixing it anymore. There just isn't a sufficiently large number of people hitting our site that still use XP. Even Microsoft is dropping it in a few months as you probably know. My feeling is it's time to let it die off.
It doesn't work due to API's we use not existing on Windows XP. If someone submits a working patch I don't see why we can't accept it as long as it's not evasive / messy. We'd then probably ditch the patch for the following release just to give people more time to migrate forward.
If XP goes, we can then look at ditching 32bit builds which simplifies things for us.
