What settings directly relate to visual quality only?

Post by Arturo Zise »

I have been using Handbrake for a few years and have always used the old Regular Normal (Default) setting for my encodes. Since the Regular Normal preset was changed a while back I have been using the new preset instead and have noticed that the overall quality of the resulting encodes doesn't seem to differ from my old settings, but the speed and fps has improved significantly. So outside of the CRF value and the SUB ME setting, are the other major settings all to do with file size/compression and not to do with visual quality? File size is not that important, so if the resulting file is bigger at the same quality it does not worry me.
