I'm thinking of using the DRC setting in Handbrake when converting my Dvd's with AC3-audio tracks to an .mkv container.
I'm only not sure of which rate of the DRC setting to use but I want a minimum gap in loudness between the softer channels (conversations, ...) and the higher channels (explosions, ...).
Would a setting of DRC=4 be overkill?
I'm converting my dvd's to .mkv to play them through a simple external mediaplayer on a normal tv (without home cinema).
Is it ok to convert the AC3-track to an AAC-track stereo mixdown?
Can you use a gain of 10 without getting any distortion?
