Hello.
After recommendation I installed Handbrake today. Just after install I rebooted and got a bunch of HDD errors. I got infected with the S.M.A.R.T. HDD virus from downloading and installing your software.
Thanks for the all day and night shady tree IT work to fix. Never will try this software again. Thanks for wasting 2-3 days of my time. Hopefully I can resolve without too much hassle. Doubt it.
fyi...PC version.

Can you post the exact link you downloaded from.
Sourceforge is showing what appears to be the correct checksums so these files should all.be clean.

Re: Installed Handbrake and got Infected
I installed svn4573 from https://build.handbrake.fr/view/Nightlies/job/Windows/ yesterday and my pc seems fine.
Can anyone confirm that this didnt come from handbrake.fr?

Re: Installed Handbrake and got Infected
I've just downloaded all the windows files from our site. All are clean of infection.
The checksums all match up for the released files, which means they are unmodified since febuary 28th.
We publish checksums on our site http://handbrake.fr/checksums.php and also available on the sourceforge files page (https://sourceforge.net/projects/handbrake/files/0.9.6/) by clicking the (i) icon.
If the checksums don't match, you don't have an offical build.
I'll certainly keep an eye out as it's supicious that 2 people reported this within an hour of each other. It's also odd that only 2 people of thousands reported this.
Either way, I found this on the avast forums: (Removal instrucitons) http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-r ... -smart-hdd

I hate to be pedantic, but you still haven't supplied the "exact link" s55 asked for. I know it seems obvious, but there are numerous ways you could have been spoofed. The link *might* be telling.
