Slows down once my computer gets hot

Slows down once my computer gets hot

Just lately, once my computer hits 80 degrees, the process slows down to 25% and it takes forever to rip a dvd. But, if I run another process intensive program then the fans will speed up and it won't reach 80 degrees.

Is there a reason for this?
