Are Blu Ray Digital copies better than the DVD converted?

Post by MrMister111 »

I just got a Blu Ray that has a digital copy to. it plays on iPhone and iPods I believe. however I haven't used one of these before, and haven't activated it yet. What are the quality like on them? are they any better than say converting the DVD using HB to Apple TV format for example? (I normally use Apple TV preset for my iPhone 4, Apple TV (1G), iTunes, iMac etc.

As I havent activated it yet, I was thinking of keeping the DVD, converting it, and selling the Blu ray and digital copy.

cheers

I would say that Handbrake can produce a digital copy that compares very favourably with the digital copy bundled with your Blu-ray/DVD, in addition to not being encumbered with any onerous DRM. If I were make an encode, I would be working from the Blu-ray source rather than the DVD.

I can't speak for all digital copies, but most tend to be SD (obviously) and only have stereo sound.
