DVD rip/encode vs. Blu-ray rip/encode (for AppleTV)

Post by icfantv »

I've done some digging but can't seem to find a definitive (and updated) answer to this question:

Is there a movie quality difference between ripping/encoding a regular DVD movie vs. ripping and encoding a Blu-ray movie if the target platform is AppleTV? I don't care about disk space as I've a 1.5TB RAID1 for my ripped/encoded movies.

Thanks,

Do you or anyone else mind elaborating on this any? I assume it's all video related as AppleTV won't support anything higher than Dolby 5.1. Thanks.

Using a higher quality source is going to give you a higher quality final product.
