An Upgrade question

Post by Scarpad »

I'm running a E4600 DUAL CORE w/2gb ram. With this I'm only getting between 4-6 fps Converting a 1980x1080p mkv file to a 1280x720p m4v file using the apple preset.
My Motherboard can accept upto a E8500 Dual core. Would I see a significant enough fps boost upgrading to the slightly higher processor? I'm running winxp sp 3.

Going from 2.4Ghz to 3.16Ghz isn't going to improve encoding speed much. Does your motherboard support Core 2 Quad?

And you kind of smell like a pirate.

You're definitely going to see a much bigger boost going with more cores than a higher clock.
