Excessive Ripping Times

Post by Hobo Delta »

I am trying to rip "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen", and I am getting excessively long wait times.
Right now, I'm about 4 hours in, and part 2 just started with 9 hours to go. Am I doing anything wrong?

That's very hard to tell without knowing what hardware you're encoding on (CPU primarily) and what preset/settings you're using.

H264 encoding is very CPU intensive - I average ~12 fps on most of my H264 encodes, using a 2.4 GHz Macbook Pro.

that's what I'm using, no alterations.

Well, that's half the equation. :)

What would really help is an activity log, so we can see what settings you're using and whether there is a problem that may be slowing the encode.

Be warned however, that the Turions don't rate very well on video encoding tasks.

Posting the entire activity log seems like it would take up a lot of space though.

As long as you enclose it in

Code: Select all

blocks (see the top of the text entry window), you should be fine.

Did I do it right?
After the video finished ripping, What was left for me was not a movie. It was just a screen covered in glitchy symbols with no sound whatsoever.

The "glitchy symbols" you reported suggest DVD43 isn't doing the job.
